24 hours in London

A couple weeks back, I went for a very last-minute, very short, trip to London. I'll never say no to an opportunity to go to my favorite city, even if it's almost too short enjoy. Almost.. I did manage to cram a lot of things in those 24 hours. I visited Frieze Art Fair, discovered a beautiful new gallery, potentially my favorite new Italian restaurant and a whole new part of London I'd never been to before.

Saatchi Gallery

We arrived on Thursday afternoon. Since our hotel was on Sloane Square we decided to check out the Saatchi Gallery, which can be hit or miss in my opinion. The current works weren't really my thing but it's always worth having a look when you're in the area.

Granger & Co.
You can always count on this Aussie place for good food. The "new" Granger & Co. near Sloane Square is stunning, with an art-deco kind of interior. The food was delicious as always, though some "main" dishes were on the smaller side. The hotcakes are a must, but we skipped them this time!

Boutique 1
I've already told you about this place, but it doesn't hurt to mention again. This is one of London's most beautiful boutiques, with an incredible selection of brands. I could browse the clothes forever! April's Café inside the boutique is like a little urban jungle. Love this store!

Frieze Art Fair
In the evening it was time to go to the opening of Frieze (which is sadly over now, but it comes back every year). Since some of you asked to write more about what I'm wearing: blazer from Céline borrowed from my sister, Majé boots, Acne jeans (my favorite black jeans ever), H&M sweater, Céline bag.

As you might know, Lucio Fontana is one of my favorite artists, and art fairs like Frieze Masters always have has a good selection of Fontana works.

Shiraga is another favorite of mine, love the colors on this one. Admiring another Fontana on the right...

A very colorful Shiraga, LOVE!

Luca Restaurant, Clerkenwell
After Frieze I met up with two of my best friends who both work and live in London. I made a reservation at Luca, which I'd failed to try in August. I had heard great things so my expectations were high. Thankfully Luca lived up to those expectation 100%. The refined Italian food is really unlike anything I've tried in London, and the decor of the restaurant is beautiful!

Luca Clerkenwell

We had a table with a view on the kitchen bar, where the chef was preparing all kinds of delicious things. Like these polenta fries, which were more like cheesy polenta churros. Super crunch and fluffy on the inside!

Luca Clerkenwell

For mains we shared a couple of dishes, such as the melanzane (best ever!!) and pasta with pesto. Everything was so delicious.

Dessert was a pear tart still warm from the oven. I loved Luca and can recommend it to everyone! All you need to do is make a reservation on time since this place is pretty hot at the moment.

Mayfair
On Thursday morning I had an early appointment at Daniel Galvin to get my hair done. They do the best hair color/highlights in London, and it's the only place where I'll get my highlights done. Afterward I had a meeting in Mayfair. I'd forgotten how nice it is to walk around in this area. The buildings are stunning and with good weather like this it feels like the best place in the world.

Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac
This gallery opened their new London 'home' earlier this year in a Georgian mansion on Dover Street. The building is so beautiful I'm almost lost for words. They were showing some of Rober Longo's works, which I'd seen in New York a week earlier (not the same works but the same artist). Love Longo, love this gallery. Must-visit.

Veggie Pret
Pret A Manger was one of my go-to "fast food" places when I was studying in London. Though I'm not a big fan of franchises, I can always count of Pret whenever I want to have a quick bite to eat. Since then, they've started selling more vegetarian/vegan options, and they've even opened a veggie Pret. There are plenty of delicious options to choose from! One of the only places where you can get a fresh, healthy and tasty meal (including a juice shot!) for under £10.

Regent Street / Oxford Street / Soho
Another one of my favorite streets/areas to wander around. I love how Regent and Oxford St. light up before Christmas, I don't know any city which is more beautiful during Christmas time! I visited the new Apple store which feels a bit like an urban jungle. I loved these staircases at Apple, so sleek.

Chiswick / Turnham Green Terrace
I had a meeting in Chiswick, which brought me to a (for me) new part of London. I want to explore this side of London more next time I go since it's so close to Kew Gardens. This street has tons of tiny shops and cafés, which makes you feel as if you're in a village in the English countryside. The flower shop outside the tube station really tempted me...

Hack & Veldt Deli
Stopped for an oat flat white at this tiny deli. They sold a really great selection of products and fresh food. And they make a good cuppa ;)

Westminster Bridge
This was my last stop of my trip to London. I hadn't walked over Westminster Bridge in ages so I remembered now how beautiful London looks from here. At the same time, it was a weird feeling to walk over this bridge where only 7 months ago the attack took place...

Bye for now London!

24 hours in London

So that's how I spend 24 hours in London! It was the shortest trip but in a city like this, I always return home with tons of inspiration. I hope that you'll visit some of these places on your next trip, let me know what you think!
