St. Jorispoort and Mechelseplein in Antwerp is one of my favourite little spots in the city. Don't ask me why, but everything here feels so authentically Antwerp (if that's a thing). There are some really old fashioned shops as well as cosy candlelit restaurants and bars. One of the newest additions to the bunch is Caffè Barbossa and it fits in just perfectly. It's a relaxed bar owned by two brothers who serve up gin & tonics and dreamy snacks platters. Ever since it opened back in September it has been my favourite spot for drinks!
The interior of Barbossa is really cool: exposed brick walls, random artefacts, cool lighting and a very impressive display of all kinds of liquor. It's cosy both during the day and by night! It opens around noon daily (except Mondays) until around 1 or 3 AM. Perfect for an after-work or a late night drink.

Around 6 PM it's not too busy, and I've often been here for some after-work drinks and snacks. They can make you any appetiser you like, even a vegetarian-friendly one, which is great!
Overall, Barbossa is just the perfect bar in my opinion. Bear in mind that evenings can get pretty busy, and I feel like they're a little understaffed sometimes, so be patient. It hasn't been open for that long yet so it can only get better over time!
