6 x coffee & juice in Melbourne

I spent the last five days of March 2016 in Melbourne, a city I had longed to visit for ages.  I left Christchurch early on a Sunday morning, and arrived in my Airbnb in Melbourne by 10 AM on Easter Sunday, just in time for brunch! But before I get into the food hotspots I tried in Melbourne, I wanted to share six coffee and juice spots. Melbourne is an absolute heaven for food lovers. There's a cute coffee place, juice bar, café or restaurant literally everywhere you look! And Australians know how to do good coffee. And juice. There are hundreds of other places to discover in Melbourne, but I wanted to share six coffee and juice places I tried myself!

MARKET LANE COFFEE CARLTON
Known as one of the best coffee roasting- blending- and brewing places in Melbourne, I can only agree with the hype. First of all, the location of the café in Carlton is super cute and convenient; right next to D. Chirico's, the coolest bakery you'll ever see (I'll tell you about it in my next Melbourne post). You can either get your coffee straight from the windowsill or head inside. Get a croissant next door and you've got a perfect breakfast. I can only imagine having this little ritual if I'd live in this city...

NEWTOWN'S

I happened to come across this little place as I was wandering through Fitzroy one morning (the 'coolest' area in the city, with TONS of good places). Although it doesn't look anything special from the outside, it's the smell of freshly brewed coffee which instinctively drew me inside. The strong soy iced latte was just what I needed, simply good!

BLUEBIRD ESPRESSO

This place was at walking distance from my second Airbnb 'home' in Collingwood, so I decided to go for a run that morning and finish at Bluebird with a very large almond iced latte. I'm not sure why the Australians put their iced latte in paper cups (they get so soggy!), but anyhow, this was another great coffee, with super friendly service to top if off. I must add that the breakfast here looked really tasty as well. Bluebird is a really genuine little place!

DOOMSDAY COFFEE

Okay I'm cheating a bit now because I didn't actually try the coffee here (I still had my Newtown latte in my hand), but it deserves a mention since I think the location is really cool. Doomsday is a concept store for men which has a little coffee-from-the-window place outside. I saw two of the most stylish men having a coffee and some serious man talk here, and I don't think I've ever seen such a man-proof coffee place. I vote for more window-coffee-places in Europe! (someone please tell me there's a more technical term for this)

PRESSED JUICES

The first juice place I wanted to tell you about is Pressed Juices, which you can find all over Melbourne (and L.A. and New York...) I have never come across more beautiful juiceries than these ones! The design is ultra sleek and clean, and the cold-pressed colourful juices are all lined up in a big fridge together with other raw goodies. Every detail is thought of and it all looks beautiful. I love those kind of places! The juice I tried was super refreshing and just on point. Can't wait for them to come to Europe.

ELLE'S NATURALLY

I was craving a fresh juice after a little shopping spree at Melbourne Central (a huge mall), so I stopped at Elle's for a juice. Although they had a big juice and smoothie menu, I was just craving watermelon so I asked for a pure watermelon juice with ice. No problem at all! Super quick, friendly and easy take-away. Not the most charming location but if you're on-the-go it's great.
