With Valentine's day around the corner, I thought it would be fun to make a little V-day themed post. When I think of Valentine's day, I think of nice lingerie, flowers and good food. I know, it's a super commercial day, but it's still nice to make a little effort. It's the perfect time to treat your loved ones and/or yourself! It doesn't have to cost much at all, I'll show you how to have the perfect Valentine's day with just three ingredients.
Ingredient 1: lingerie
Since I've been seeing so much cute/sexy lingerie around lately, I wanted to share my absolute favourites. Pretty lingerie is both nice for him (to see) and for her (to wear), so it's really a win-win gift. And if you're single, it's nice to treat yourself to something cute or sexy, followed by a night out with your girls (or with Netflix & cat in bed, I won't tell). I scoured the web for nice lingerie which doesn't break the bank:
Shades of Pink bra & briefs || Dancing heart undies || Lace old pink bra || Flower suspenders || Old school kickers
Lace body with capped sleeves || Black lace tanga || Red leopard thong || Red suspenders || Red leopard bra
Ingredient 2: homemade breakfast/brunch
Valentine's day is on a Sunday this year, so I would definitely start the day with a nice breakfast in bed: sweetcorn fritters with bacon & avo for him and banana pancakes for her. Other perfect brekky treats are a berry parfait or a layered smoothie. They're all easy recipes but they'll definitely impress! In Dutch we have a saying "Liefde gaat door de maag" (Love goes through the stomach) which is so true! Skip the cliché chocolate, there's nothing better than a good brunch: super easy, cheap and effective! (click on the images to go to the recipe)
Ingredient 3: flowers
Last but not least, there's the flowers. I think there's no woman on this planet who doesn't love flowers. I personally really dislike red roses, they're just so plain and a bit boring to be honest. My advice? Go for dusty-pink roses or a combination of different colours of roses for a classic bouquet (like this) If you want something more fun, go for different colours of carnations and small roses. Combine the two together and you get a rainbow bouquet like in the picture below! Super kitsch but pretty ;) The flowers are from Albert Heijn, I think I paid 7 euros for two bunches (roses & carnations). You can also make something like this!
I hope this post gave you some inspiration for Valentine's day! And even if you don't have a boyfriend/girlfriend, I think these are still pretty good things to do this weekend. Buy yourself something pretty, spend some time arranging flowers and cook a nice breakfast. Good vibes guaranteed!
