So I may have skipped a couple of months of these picture diaries, but I'll make up for it today with many many pics I snapped in July. I spent my last two weeks in Munich, hopped in the car to Italy and ended the month in Belgium at home! It was a beautiful month with so much good food, great company and nice weather (30+ degrees most days!) What more could you ask for? Hello August by the way! Let's see if this month will be able to top July..
How has your summer been so far?
Started the month with a visit to the Nymphenburg castle and botanical garden just outside the centre of Munich. Such a beautiful place and there was no one there since we went straight after work // We stopped by the supermarket to get some snacks. Sharing is caring so I gave some nachos to the cutest little ducklings
In the botanical garden at Nymphenburg they have the coolest green houses // lost in the jungle ;) am I really in Munich? Sure didn't feel like it!
My friend and I decided to try the icecream at Del Fiore after work and it was SO good. Best ice cream in the city! // After ice cream we had massive burgers at Schnelle Liebe.. yes we nearly died after that hahah!
Del Fiore's best ice cream: coconut // while getting lost in the city after our heavy dinner we discovered this beautiful flower garden
Stopped by Rewe (supermarket) after a morning workout to buy something refreshing. This watermelon looked super tempting // Instead I got some coconut water and went for a dip in the pool. It doesn't get more refreshing than that!
The Isar river bank is always packed on sunny days. The river is really cold but when it's so hot out, it's the perfect solution to stay cool // Super Danke smoothies were my favourite treat in this hot month
I got a bit too much sun one day so I felt really bad. Nothing that some take-away sushi (Sushi Plus) and Netflix can't fix! I've almost finished season 3 of Orange is the New Black. // After my sushi and a nap I put on some make-up and headed out for a drink, it was Saturday after all so no excuses!
Chilling at the Eisbach stream in the English Garden. This place gets SUPER packed but there's such a good atmosphere there // funny when my smoothie matches some guy's swimming trunks ;)
Even though it was really hot in July, I didn't skip my workouts. I already miss Elements! // I love this neon and black combo. I wear compression socks (on sale) because it somehow feels like my legs get tired less fast and also because I don't get scratches on my legs from the weights, win-win
On Tuesdays there was a market in my street so I couldn't resist buying a fresh bunch // when I returned from India in May I brought mangoes and pureed some to freeze (to keep longer). Best mangos ever and this puree was perfect with quark an coconut flakes
Fresh flowers make a happy girl // my friend had the cutest little pink set-up for her pre-birthday party! The bouquet I made was a perfect match
P1 (club) organises a huge summer party every year. This year's theme was Black Pearl so it was all pirate-themed, really well done and a fun party // quick snap with two pirates, arrr!
I love my new Nike sweater which I found on sale at Net-A-Porter. My new favourite gym sweater // watching Wimbledon after work, at work + beers
I took a morning off because new windows were installed in my flat. I decided to grab a coffee and some sun at Kochspielhaus (the coffee was pretty bad unfortunately)
Friday night, pizza night at L'Osteria, Munich's best pizza place. We had two and a half pizzas (massive), for just two girls (!!) Yes we definitely over-ordered // L'Osteria has a really cool interior, and these people wanted to be in the picture as well ;)
No matter how much pizza we ate, we still wanted something sweet so we biked to Del Fiore for lemon-mint sorbet. Like a mojito! // on my last internship day at Stylight, I brought my favourite Belgian chocolate, Cote D'Or Mignonettes
My favourite take-away coffee in Munich was definitely from Morso, cute Italian place and great coffee // Avocado toast with walnut bread and some tomatoes and basil. Super tasty!
Went sale shopping and tried this little palm tree combo, but didn't buy it in the end // fresh lilies, Dutch Vogue and a buttermilk berry smoothie
This little Skippy came with us to the park one day, a little old grandma, very slow and cute // Munich's best flat white at Man Versus Machine
One of my favourite spots in Munich to relax: the Blue Spa at Bayerischer Hof. Not busy at all on weekdays and the most relaxing spot in Munich with the best view
My brother and sister came to visit me so I could show them around Munich a bit! They arrived at night so we went for pizza at Lo Studente and after that ice cream from Ballabeni // for sunset watching we went to Vorhoelzer Forum, a rooftop bar at the Technical University
The next morning we had brunch at Reitschule, really good German brekky
We were lucky with the weather and it was so hot that we just had to take a dip in the Eisbach. There's a current so you can float along all the way down the river.
I wanted to show my siblings the botanical garden at Nymphenburg, it's so cool because it feels like you're in some tropical country
What do you do when you get hungry before dinner? Get some dumplings at Le Du Happy Dumplings. They are so so good! // I quickly cycled home to get changed for dinner and got treated to this beautiful sunset in my street
My 'goodbye' dinner in Munich was at Kaisergarten, a mini beergarden where you can eat really good Bavarian food. Schitzels with roasted potatoes and Kaiserschmarrn for dessert
The next day we spent the whole day swimming and tanning. We wanted a relaxed dinner so I ordered some sushi from Bento Ya for my sister and I, and my brother had a burger from Burger House // one last drink with my favourite Munich girls, I will miss them a lot!
The next morning we woke up early for our roadtrip to Italy. But first coffee. Man Versus Machine, what else? // we stopped in Italy half way and it was so hot we almost melted
At night we finally arrived in Venice, just in time for the Redentore fireworks, which is once a year. I had never seen it and it was really special. Thousands of people, boats and endless fireworks.
Everywhere you look in Venice looks like postcard, I love this city // the Proportio exhibition at Palazzo Fortuny. It was around 40 degrees in Venice and extremely humid, so we went from one (air conditioned) exhibition to the next
The view from Palazzo Fortuny // delicious and simpe pasta for lunch
I came across this boutique hotel, L'Orologio, which opened only a few months ago. It looked really cool inside and I definitely want to stay here one time // fresh fruit at the Venetian market
One of my favourite views in Venice is from the Academia bridge // More pretty views! I've been to Venice more than I can count, but I still love coming here
Stylish siblings on our way to dinner // More Venice views
Dinner at Osteria Oliva Nera, really tasty. Everything was great, from starters to desserts. Too bad they ran out of tiramisu, I wanted to try it so bad // cute lamps for the Redentore party
For our last brekky in Venice (we just spent two night there), I chose for a classic Italian combo. Espresso with some milk and a tiny paint au chocolat // more coffee during our pitstop on our way to Florence
Next stop: Ferrara. The Palazzo dei Diamanti is one of the coolest buildings I've ever seen // ironic umbrella in Ferrara's summer heat
We stayed in an Airbnb just 15 minutes outside the centre of Florence. Such a nice house, right in the middle of the olive trees // we caught the last rays of sun as we entered Firenze
I had made a reservation at Trattoria Sostanza the week before. I will write a full review on this gem so stay tuned // heading back home with a full tummy
Woke up early one morning because I smelled coffee, best wake-up call ever, thanks daddy! // we headed to the supermarket to buy breakfast for everyone. I could spend days in Italian supermarkets, the quality of the products is incredible and nothing compared to what we have in Belgium
XXL Blackberry // brekky consisted of toast with ricotta, omelet and yoghurt with muesli and fruit. And more coffee
Walking the streets of beautiful Florence, practically melting // Stopped for ice cream and granitas. You can see the Ponte Vecchio in the background if you look closely
The famous Venus of Botticcelli // view from the Uffizi museum
On our last evening in Florence we enjoyed the beautiful sunset from our backyard, ciao Italia! It was short but sweet // On our way to Munich, with Nutella & Go snack. I came to the conclusion that I'm not a big fan of Nutella #sorrynotsorry
After a short night in Munich, one final dinner at Cochinchina and literally stuffing the car with my belongings (too many clothes), we headed back to Belgium. Pitstop for watermelon and Mymuesli, perfect!
Random 'gate' on the highway // back home with my favourite kitten, finally
Smoothie bowl breakfast // first run in three months (!) and finally trying out my Flyknit Lunar Nikes for running. Definitely approved!
Sweet peas, the best smelling summer flowers. Did you know that if you pick the flowers every day, there will be more flowers? If you don't pick them, the flowers turn into beans then then you don't get any more flowers // fresh from the garden: flowers, yellow zucchini and purple beans
Dries Van Noten's store in Antwerp is getting some fresh paint I think so it was completely empty. Such a beautiful building! // after a whole day of shopping our last stop was Graanmarkt 13, definitely a cool store to visit when you're in Antwerp. I want to try their restaurant asap
The best spelt crackers from Albert Heijn with flaxseed // sleepy Biba blending into the sheets as always
I already miss my Munich gym so much but a home workout is also not too bad. I really felt like skipping so did 2000 skips (in 'sets' of 100 or 200 skips). A super effective cardio workout! // a pretty smoothie bowl for breakfast #treatyoself
How has your summer been so far?
