What's in my gym bag

I'm not going to lie, I didn't have a proper gym bag until yesterday. I have been using a normal tote for over a year as gym bag, and I can tell you.. it's not the best thing. But yesterday I found this cool black bag with hot pink lining, so I thought it was the perfect moment to show you my gym bag essentials.

I actually don't carry around a huge amount of things when I go to the gym, but since I usually go straight after work at night, it requires some preparation. There are some essentials which I really can't miss when I work out. If I don't have one of these items, it's impossible for me to have a good work out, sounds dramatic, but essentials are, you know, essential ;)

Of course I also have sports clothes in my gym bag, but that's pretty straightforward so I'm only showing my absolute essentials today.

☆ iPod + Nocs earphones
Music makes my workout 100 times better. Without music, I simply can't focus and without focus you can't do a good workout. When my iPod runs out of battery, I stop working out. I love my Nocs earphones because they are noise cancelling and the sound is amazing. They also don't tangle easily and they are easy to wrap around your iPod or phone.

☆ Water bottle
During your workout, you lose a lot of moisture through sweating and even breathing, so it's super important to drink a lot before, during and after your workout (of course, don't overdo it). I usually drink about 1 to 1.5 liters of water during my workout. Always get thirsty! This is actually a protein shaker but acts perfectly as a water bottle too.

☆ Sports bra
I've written a whole post about why I love sports bras. My favourites are the high support Swoosh bras from Nike.

☆ Hair ties
I don't understand girls who work out with their hair down, or am I the only one? Hair gets sweaty and in the way, not nice! I always put my hair up in a ponytail, usually with a bright hair tie (these are from H&M kids) or an Invisibobble.

☆ Nikes
I love my bright pink Air Max for working out, since I usually wear all-black at the gym. These Air Max 2014 feel like little clouds on my feet and I feel it's easier to do rope skipping when I wear these, rather than my Nike Frees. And I get lots of compliments on these so that's always a good thing! These are not available anymore, but they've gotten an upgrade, and they look AMAZING. (want want want!)

☆ Skipping rope from Domyos

My gym has the newest and most up-to-date technologies and equipment, but like at most gyms, the skipping ropes suck! This is why I always bring my own skipping rope from Domyos (bought at Decathlon). It's cheap and really quite good. There are weights in the handles to make it more challenging but you can also remove them easily. I love skipping because it's high intensity, and the most effective warm-up/cardio in my opinion.

I went lots of sports stores to find a nice gymbag, but I couldn't find a good one. Yesterday I stumbled upon this cool bag at H&M. It's neoprene black with neon pink lining, and it has some really good compartments and pockets inside. It's perfect and only 30 euros, so a real steal! I can't find it online but I'm sure they have it in stores. This one is similar.
