Christmas recap

This year's Christmas period was one of the best so far, and I snapped my way through it with my little camera. Christmas parties, good food and family time: my Christmas in a nutshell! 

Thursday 18/12To me, there's almost nothing more festive than baking Christmas cookies. So last Thursday I spent half the day baking tons of cookies. My favourite ones were the thin sablé cookies, I'll share the recipe next time!

Sunday 21/12 | First Christmas party of the season. A long and elaborated lunch with amazing cheeses, fresh bread and good wine. Something else than the usual turkey or lobster, but definitely something worth repeating. 

Wednesday 24/12 | Christmas eve! We spent the day getting the last bits for dinner and experienced the chaos of last-minute shoppers in town. I got 2 kilos of lychees because it's my favourite fruit (together with raspberries and passion fruit). After that I walked Nocho (our dog) I made mince pies (a British thing, I didn't like it as much as I thought I would). My sister made blinis for the delicious salmon blinis we had as appetiser. As a main course my mom prepared lobster with a delicious sauce, salad and crunchy allumette fries. After dinner we sat by the fire with cups of tea and opened the gifts we got for each other. Lovely family time!

Thursday 25/12 | Christmas day! We joined forces to make a five-star breakfast: Italian coffee, poached eggs (made in our new egg poacher), smoked salmon, bread, homemade Nutella, freshly squeezed orange juice, cheeses and a fruit platter. Yumm! After that it was time to get off my bum and go for a run. Only 5 km on the track but I need to start building it up again. To motivate myself I had one lychee per kilometer :)
