Sticky banana oats

Oatmeal is the perfect winter breakfast. It's warm, comforting and will keep you going for hours (..or at least until lunch). But eating oats every single day might get a bit boring, which is why I came up with this recipe - to change things up. I've eaten my oats with sliced banana before, but decided it would be even better with sticky, warm and cinnamon-y banana. It looks really indulgent and it tastes like a dessert, but it's pretty much guilt-free!
What you need
- 1 ripe banana
- 1/2 cup of oats
- 1 cup of milk (almond milk, cow's milk, anything you fancy)
- 1 teaspoon of honey
- 1 teaspoon of coconut oil
- cinnamon
- optional: chopped pecans, beepollen, almond butter

Put a small pan on medium heat and drop a teaspoon of coconut oil in it. Slice the banana in half and place it in the pan. Drizzle the honey over it and sprinkle generously with cinnamon. After a few minutes, turn over the banana slices and sprinkle with more cinnamon. Leave for a few minutes again until the banana has completely softened up and has gotten a sticky sweet caramel-looking layer over it. Now take the pan off the heat.

Mix the oats with the milk in a small bowl (always use 1 unit of oats and double the amount of milk). Then pop it in the microwave for two minutes. When the oats are ready, carefully place the banana slices on top and add some extra toppings like chopped nuts, nut butter, chia seeds or bee pollen. This is all optional, since the banana and oats already taste like heaven together. Now enjoy your warm and super tasty breakfast.
