Valentine's gift ideas

Valentine's day is approaching. Some may be dreading the arrival of this day and plan on spending it in bed with Bridget Jones and lots of chocolate. Others may have booked a restaurant months ago for a romantic candlelit dinner and a delivery of two dozens of roses to their beloved. Either way, I made a small Valentine's gift guide for the ones who don't have a clue what to get their girlfriend/boyfriend, or for the single ladies out there who agree that Valentine's day is the perfect opportunity to treat themselves.

MAC Archie's Girls blush (£21.50, Selfridges) is from the newest MAC collection. Super sweet with a heart pattern for a cute blush on her cheeks.

Dior highlighter Amber Diamond (£32, Sephora) and Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Opera Rose (£24.50, Boots) are good because luxury make-up products are not something that a girl will easily buy for herself, so they make a perfect present.

Philosophy Love Sweet Love Fragrance (£28, Sephora) needs no explanation, the name says it all!

Too Faced The Secret to No Makeup Makeup palette £25, Sephora because a girl can never have too much make-up, and because boys love the 'minimal make up look'.

The Fresh Cannabis Santal Scented Candle (£32, Sephora) will intrigue your boy for sure! I wonder what it smells like.

Bleu de Chanel (£40.50 on offer, Boots), in my opinion, is the best smelling scent for men.

A bottle of wine, the one shown is a Petrus from '89 (£4,995, Harrods), maybe not the most affordable option, but a good bottle of wine is nice to drink together with a home-cooked meal for a more casual date.

For a romantic Valentine's evening, all you need is a scented candle from Diptique (Tubereuse, the huge edition for £170 pounds at Selfridges) and some nice lingerie from Agent Provocateur (whoever chooses/buys it is up to you) at Harrods

Of course, there are many more options out there. For your tech-loving boyfriend you can buy a case for his new iPhone 5 or his iPad mini. For a heartwarming DIY present you can bake your boyfriend's favorite cookies or cake. In London you can find lovely bouquets at Selfridges; they have the most beautiful wild roses. And if you'd like to keep it low-key, a cute little hand-written valentine's card is also enough to make your love's heart melt.

Have a happy Valentine's!
