202 Westborne Grove | London

Last week, my friend Montana paid me a visit. This meant that I had to show her the best bits of London; Notting Hill on a sunny Sunday is definitely one of them. We walked through Portobello Road, looking to find a nice place for lunch and as we walked past 202 on Westbourne Grove I saw the most amazing looking caesar salad. We kept walking for another two minutes, but we eventually made a U-turn and went straight to 202. What followed was one of the loveliest Sunday lunches I've ever had..
It was a gorgeous day but most people we queuing up for a table inside. The tables outside however looked much more appealing (people watching in the sun from under your sunglasses: how can you resist that?) and within 5 minutes we sat down at our little table.

When the menu came we were put into the difficult situation of having to decide what to eat: everything sounded so good! A steak sandwich with chanterelle mushrooms & horseradish sauce, a caesar salad with parmesan and grilled chicken, prawn linguini with chili and tomato or a lasagna made from spinach, pumpkin & ricotta? We just couldn't decide but luckily the super-friendly waiter (Mitch) was there to help us make a decision.

Waiting for the food to arrive...

Ah there it is! I chose the caesar salad (sticking to my first impression of 202) and Montana chose the massive club sandwich. We also had an order of chunky crunchy fries/chips with it which were really good (as a Belgian, I can say I'm an expert in fries).

The caesar salad was absolutely mouth-watering. The chicken was perfectly grilled and juicy. I just love the combination of salad, chicken, parmesan and croutons. Caesar salad is one of my favorite salads and this one is just how I like it. There might have been a little too much dressing here and there but I can't complain, it was delicious! (make sure to ask to leave out the anchovies if you don't like them, like me)

Montana's beast of a club sandwich is new on the menu, so constantly changing until it's perfect. It was really huge! I tasted the crisps and they were really good. I wonder how these are made?

The food was divine, the sun was burning on my face, the company was great and we amused ourselves with one of my favorite activities: people watching. We spotted fast fancy cars, some cute dogs, even cuter kids and some bloggers: Rose from The Londoner and Natasha from Bisous Natasha. It was the perfect lunch date.

After lunch, we went to check out the shop downstairs: 202 is actually a concept store. There was a really cool selection of clothes: I saw a beautiful pair of leather orange trousers. Pictures were not allowed so I only managed to take one before I was told off.

We strolled back home through the adorable Notting Hill with full tummies and a smile on our faces..

I can't recommend 202 enough. Especially the lunch menu is very appealing, I can't wait to go back and try out the steak sandwich!
