Hi Sushi Izakaya | Covent Garden

Yesterday my friends and I decided to have lunch after uni. We headed to Covent Garden with sushi in our minds. Katarina had been to Hi Sushi before and she liked it, so the decision was easily made. I decided it was time for another short review and pulled out my little camera (sorry if the quality is a bit bad).

Location
27 Catherine Street, Covent Garden
London WC2B 5JS
Nearest tube station: Covent Garden

Food
The menu was huge and the options were endless, but all three of us opted for a little menu which included a miso soup and a bento box which contained grilled teriyaki salmon, 3 salmon maki's, 3 cucumber maki's,  2 nigri's (salmon and tuna), a little salad and a bowl of rice. The sushi was good, except for the fact that some pieces just fell apart. The rice just wasn't sticky enough which is I think the reason why the sushi wasn't all that firm. But everything tasted great, I especially liked the grilled salmon. It was really plenty of food which I didn't expect for the small price.

Atmosphere
It was definitely not the busiest hour (around 2 pm) but it was nice to have a calm lunch. At the entrance there's a little pond with fish which is a nice detail. The interior is quite nice, a lot of wood, and it certainly doesn't look like a cheap Japanese restaurant. There's an option of sitting at the bar overlooking the sushi 'kitchen' which is nice when you are having a quick bite on your lunch break.

Pricing
The prices were a surprise to me. Our 'lunch deal' cost a little less than 12 pounds which is really great considering the amount of food you get and the quality! With drinks and service charge included we payed around 15 pounds each.

Overall opinion
I think this is a really nice little restaurant! It's great if you're looking for a sushi lunch but you don't want to spend lots of money and you also don't want to go to one of the unappealing sushi chains. Hi Sushi is calm, cute and good! I'll come back here to try the a la carte menu.
